A beautiful, gentle floral still life impasto oil painting. Signed and Dated 1931, I love the detail of the crysanthemums, the beautiful blue vase and reflection and the plate to the side. It also has its stunning original carved wooden frame. There are a few scratches on the paint but it is in beautiful antique condition. This painting will look exquisite in a contemporary or traditional setting to add an eclectic touch.
In the Victorian language of flowers, Crysanthemums ymbolised slighted love or sorrow in romantic contexts. Yellow chrysanthemums could also mean gently diminishing passionate advances. Chrysanthemums were also a symbol of friendship and good luck, and were often given as gifts between friends and family. They are the official flower of November, and are a reminder that there is beauty in the fall even though winter is approaching.
