A beautiful 19th century British School oil painting on board of sailing boats on a beach. I love the gentle muted hues and detail of the birds and anchor. What makes it even more special, is the reverse of the painting which depicts a glorious 19th century arched bridge and waterfall. Both sides are executed beautifully and the painting could be displayed either way if you remove the string from the back. It also has a beautiful timeworn gilt frame. There is a some wear and tear and scratches on the paint surface, but I love the faded beauty and it will look beautiful propped up on a shelf or on an easel or even hanging at a window to view both sides. It is initialled at the bottom left.
