A beautiful antique wooden frame with decorative carved detail. It is a matte gold - it may have had more of a rich gilt feel at another stage but it is a wonderful piece. There are splits and cracks and chips and pieces missing in the wood but this adds to the timeworn beauty. The back is wonderful too and shows just how these frames were constructed.
I love antique frames and yes, they can be used to reframe an interesting picture or painting but they are equally striking as pieces on their own. Layer them up with other interesting frames, place an object in the centre and you have a wonderful vignette.
