I love antique animal engravings. You can feel the gentle pace of a time gone by and the joy of natural history. This is a wonderful coloured engraving by Thomas Landseer ARA (1795–1880), who was a British engraver and artist best known for his acclaimed etchings of paintings by his brother Edwin Landseer. His work played a significant role in bringing Victorian animal art to a wider audience.
