This is a gorgeous oak whatnot, a decorative open shelved stand that became popular in the 19th century. It has beautiful turned spindle detail and curved narrow shelves. Designed to display little ornaments, porcelain, and treasured curiosities, it reflected the Victorian era’s growing love of collecting and interior decoration. This one can be freestanding (with light weight objects)  or wall hung (it has hooks ready to hang) and is perfect to display antique treasures in any room.
