This is a beautiful 19th Century Anglo-Indian sewing box made from carved sandalwood. It features intricate sadeli work, which is a specialized form of micro-mosaic inlay using bone and metal pieces. The carved panels depict foliage and elephants and it has beautiful little brass feet too. These boxes were often produced in Vizagapatam or Bombay for the British export market during the Victorian era.
