This is an exquisite antique box with a hand-painted chinoiserie scene of birds, flowers and floral design and water. The lacquer has come off in parts and it is a chipped in sections (particularly on the edges). Beautiful and timeworn. I love the detail of the writing on the front of it too. It would have had a key.
