This is a beautiful 19th century silk wall hanging of a bird on a branch hand embroidered, with gold thread and a beautiful brocade border. The rod is new.
In 19th century England, many upper and middle class women did silk embroidery to show refinement. It was often taught in schools and seen as an important feminine skill. The designs usually showed flowers, birds, countryside scenes, or patterns inspired by other cultures, often taking ideas from nature
