I adore this exquisite handpainted paper mache spice box dating from the late 1800s. The classical detail, slightly timeworn and faded is so beautiful. The box was probably used as a travelling spice box with the internal compartments that are removable. It does have some wear and tear and parts of the paint fading which is commensurate with age but what a gorgeous piece and in beautiful condition for its age.
