I love Victorian coloured botanical prints and this is a beauty. Original 19th century prints of Robert Furber's "Summer and Winter" from the "Twelve Months of Flowers" catalogue which was published in 1730. It was a landmark in the history of botanical illustration and one of the earliest examples of a seed catalogue. Robert Furber was a British horticulturalist and his original 12 artworks were large, hand-coloured copperplate engravings, one for each month of the year. This print is framed beautifully behind glass with a soft green coloured mount and a gilded frame with just a few chips.
