Travel to a bygone era with this elegant leather trunk with wonderful stitching all around and the original makers label inside. What makes it even more special is the inclusion of a large initial "F" and the "Maltese Cross" on the top and both sides.
The Maltese Cross has its origins going back to the era of the Crusades and is named after the island of Malta which came to be the home of the Knights of St. John. To help identify friend from foe during the fighting, they needed a symbol that could identify them. One of the most important guidelines for wearing the Maltese Cross badge, is to avoid flaunting it or even to be seen possessing it unless you have offered your service to others in a way that makes it clear that you've dedicated your life to serving and saving others. The Maltese Cross is also a Firefighter's Badge of Courage. (wikipedia)
There are scratches, marks, some latches missing and some scuffs on the suitcase, consistent with its age and use, but this all adds to the unique character of the piece. The internal fabric section is slightly musty but is in good condition.
