I love this piece. It has wonderful crackle glaze detail in blue with glorious painted decorative detail of scrolls and shields and dramatic handles on the side. I don't think it has a lot of age to it but its texture, hues and detail is quite stunning.
What is crackle glaze?
It is the effect on pottery which causes it to have a web of tiny cracks over its surface. These are not cracks in the actual structure of the pottery but actually an effect on the glazed part of the pottery.
