A beautiful large original American ceiling tile, circa early 1900s. Beautiful and rustic with a lovely blue hue. It also has its original timber frame on the back. There is rust in various parts which adds to the charm. Tin ceiling tiles were first manufactured and sold in North America in the mid 1800s, as a more affordable option to emulate the look and elegance of the ornate plasterwork that was popular in Europe at the time. They look wonderful as unusual wall decor or just leaning against a wall. Great also as a large splashback tile. I love these old tin tiles - the detail, the patterns. They make wonderful decorative accessories to add a splash of patina and history.
