A pair of wonderful mezzotint caricature prints by Carington Bowles with lovely polished wood frames and olive green silk fabric mounts which are in good condition apart from a few little teeny chips on the frames. The prints are in wonderful condition with some browning on the paper that one would expect.
The print on the left is numbered 402 and reads "Reynard's Last Shift". From the original picture by John Collet in the possession of Carington Bowles. Printed for & Sold by Carington Bowles at his Map & Print Warehouse, at no 69 in St Pauls Church End, London. Published as the Act directs, 24 June, 1779.
The print on the right is numbered 393 and reads "Summer. From the Original Picture by John Collet in the possession of Carington Bowles. Printed for & Sold by Carington Bowles. at No. 69 in St Pauls Church Yard, London. Published as the Act directs, 1 Jan 1779
The wooden frames have hooks on the reverse (one has a piece of string tied to them in order to hang) but these can be adapted to ones needs.
