I adore this painting. The blue and green hues....the wonderful expressionist feel. Her rather lovely glance and the beautiful brushstrokes - you can almost feel the texture of her clothes. I love the off-centre compostion as well. The frame is a thick wood, painted, slightly rustic and the splashes of paint on the bottom of the frame are wonderful too. Looks like the paint has dripped and it adds such atmosphere to the painting. It is signed and dated on the back, Ross Macdonald, 1953
