A beautiful set of three small shaker boxes made from bentwood or possibly balsa wood which is a very lightweight. Made popular by the “Shakers” arrival in America in the 18th century, these beautiful handcrafted boxes were used to store tea, grains, spices buttons and paint pigments. Gorgeous detailed design on the front. One of the small boxes fits within the large box. I love old boxes and have a collection of them in my home. Display them on a sideboard with other beautiful antique pieces or use to keep little things hidden in the living room or study.
