I love using interesting antique objects as sculptural pieces and this tribal wooden weaving shuttle, originating from the Baule people in the Ivory Coats in Africa, is a perfect example. Textured, earthy, this boat-shaped handloom shuttle is carved from dense hardwood into a hollowed vessel and seamlessly glides through the threads. It is mounted onto perspex to give it a sculptural feel. It has a wonderful patina and gorgeous to add to a collection of handcrafted tribal pieces.
