A beautiful, gentle floral still life oil painting.  It is initialed by the artist, Fred Stubbings who was an English painter active in the early to mid 20th century, known especially for landscapes, gardens, and countryside scenes, often inspired by southern England. He worked in oils and pastels and exhibited at major venues including the Royal Academy. His work reflects the influence of Impressionism, particularly in its interest in light, color, and outdoor subjects.

I love the detail of the crysanthemums, the beautiful glass vase and reflection and the petals on the tablecloth. It also has its stunning contemporary gilt copper hued frame.  This painting will look exquisite in a contemporary or traditional setting to add an eclectic touch.

In the Victorian language of flowers,  Chrysanthemums were a symbol of friendship, warm affection and good luck, and were often given as gifts between friends and family. They are the official flower of November, and are a reminder that there is beauty in the fall even though winter is approaching.
