A lovely vintage Dr Nelson's Improved Inhaler, made in England by Burleigh Ironstone. It has the directions for use on the front. It does not have its bung and glass mouthpiece. It makes a wonderful and unusual vase particularly for the bathroom or guest toilet. It is also a wonderful example of English medical history.
Between 1861 and 1865, Dr Nelson invented his Improved Inhaler for steam inhalations for respiratory ailments. At that time it was produced by S. Maw & Son in London and was a simple, efficient and affordable device that was used widely. It was particularly useful in the home.
